Leave god alone

Nowadays it seems there is a large battlefield when it comes to the war between organized religion and atheism. I myself am not an atheist nor am I a member of any organized religion. Because I follow no god people would group me in with the atheists but in reality I consider myself to be an intellectual more or less then an atheist. I have no god, in a sense I worship the human brain and intelligence over Jesus Christ or Allah. Although I myself have no god many would think I would side with the atheists in this eternal argument over whether there is a higher power or not, that’s where people are wrong.

What point would serve me well arguing over whether such a higher being exists? Just because you worship the god of your religion doesn’t mean you must shove it down another persons throat. The same goes for atheists, because you believe in science or whatever separates you from organized religion doesn’t mean you must argue or antagonize religion. I believe we should follow our own personal beliefs in seclusion or with others that share the same beliefs simply because arguing over the unknown will get you nowhere. In the end we are all just human beings, follow whatever it is you believe because that is your belief and no one has the power to take it from you. Maybe some of this will make sense coming from neither side of the never ending war.

I'm thoroughly convinced that this will deter neither side from keeping there beliefs from spewing onto the internet or secreting from there mouths. I'm writing this only to convey my feelings and opinion on the matter knowing damn well they mean nothing.

Most people define "atheism" as the lack of belief in a god, so if you don't believe in a god, you are an atheist, just like a new born baby.

The reasons most atheists argue against religion are because religion shoves itself down atheists throats. For example, in America didn't religion try dictating what could and couldn't be taught in schools? Didn't religion argue that evolution shouldnt be taught and that creationism should?

I am an atheist and I have no problem with religion being taught in schools, in fact I think it is a good thing to teach kids about as much as possible, I just dont think that something should be taught as fact when it cannot be proven. Kids should be taught about ALL religions. Thats one example of why atheists argue against religion.

Another example would be suicide bombers, people flying planes into buildings in the thought that what they are doing is a good thing, people murdering abortion doctors because "god" told them to, people bombing abortion clinics, people shunning gays and non religious people from society because their religon tells them to.

They are just some of the reasons atheists argue against religion.

Why do theists argue against atheists?

Theists ARGUE against atheists and atheists ARGUE against theists because they are both the same religion with different "beliefs." Like the author of this hub said, "leave God alone," and all should be well...

On second thought, we've been fighting since the history of recorded man and, much like those tiny insects known as ants, we always will... I'm sure the dinosaurs wasn't always peaceful with one another either, just saying...

"Can't we all just get along?" Uh, no... What fun would that be? LOL!

Agnosticism is the lack of faith in God. It is the belief that there is no faith in something that isn't proven. There is a difference between an agnostic and an atheist, because an atheist has faith that there is no God. It is basically the belief in a negative.

To say that religion is wrong because religious extremists kill other people is spreading misinformation. Atheist extremists exist as well. Atheists have blown up buildings, murdered children, and acted in other forms of selfishness as well. That doesn't make atheism "wrong", any more than a few Christian or Muslim extremists make religion "wrong".

@Carl

Atheists may have commited acts but there is no doctrine instructing them to do so or leading them to believe they are doing the right thing.

The bible instructs you to kill, and it preaches racism and sexism. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a god, it doesnt preach anything.

Atheism is a claim of belief, agnosticism is a claim of knowledge. The two are not mutually exclusive. I am an agnostic atheist.
