Realism in War games

Video games today illuminate the battlefield whether it’s the death ridden fields of Europe during WWII or the dusty, sandy battlefields of the Middle East. Humanity has always been fascinated with war so why not use that as a genre in the video game industry? The war/shooter genre in the video game industry is by far the largest and most sold.
I am a personal fan of war games. My favorite of them all is battlefield 2: Bad Company which in my opinion is the most realistic to date. I love realism in war games. It brings everything to life for me and when that happens to gamer, they player smarter and enjoy it a lot more then they usually would. The game is also the first to introduce sniper science. Which is amazing to say the very least.
Sound, Visuals and all of the above is what brings a war game to life. Of course it is a sadistic thought to enjoy watching a man get shot but it gets your adrenaline pumping despite the fact that you know it’s only a game. Realism in such a vibrant industry is what attracts customers and raises general interest in the industry. If you ask any gamer, he/she will tell you that they prefer realism in a good game.
Yet only certain games offer that. Take for instance, Call of Duty black ops, this game has little too no realism considering in real life a sub machine gun could not do more damage than an assault rifle at long distances. If we were too compare it to the battlefield franchise in a contest of realism it would lose by a long shot. Some would say I am writing blasphemy but it’s true. Battlefield features not only sniper science but most if not all the science that comes with real war. Completely destructible environments are the largest component because if you can’t kill a player camping behind a wall in Call of Duty you can blow the wall and the player right to the sky.
I don’t want to bash any video games and promote others because in all honesty I play them all collectively I just want the point to get across that realism is an important component in any video game!

Interesting opinion. I often skip video game articles because I am not a gamer. My son is, however, and he loves all the action games! It's an expensive hobby to say the least!
